OUR STORY

Rooted in a vision
for better infant care

We know the feeling – filled with questions and determined to do what’s best for our children.

After our son was born, what I’d hoped would be a natural bonding experience turned into constant worry if I was feeding my son enough. I was encouraged by the idea that “breast is best.” However with changes to my body and hormones, was my milk truly providing the nutrition our son needed? I became pregnant 7 months postpartum with our daughter and started to wonder how did breastfeeding while pregnant affect my milk quality? Were my son and daughter getting the essential nutrients they needed to grow and thrive?

Once our daughter arrived, we faced a new set of concerns. She was born with a head circumference in the 5th percentile. I was worried my body had not fully recovered and if my breast milk could provide the essential nutrients she needed especially with only 6 months between breastfeeding both children and becoming pregnant so quickly.

When I asked my doctor about testing my breast milk, I was shocked to discover that no such service was available in Canada. From this, the vision for Lacto Labs was born: to empower mothers and families with insights into their breast milk composition and personalized nutritional adjustments for optimal infant health. We recognize the vital role breast milk plays in the early stages of life, which is why Lacto Labs was created. We want to give parents clarity, confidence, and peace of mind when breastfeeding because nothing matters more than your baby’s health.”
